Northern Valley Regional High School District Receives $500,000 Grant OLD TAPPAN, N.J. -- The Northern Valley Regional High School District is the recipient of a half-million-dollar grant from the New Jersey Department of Education. This grant, coupled with the STEM labs that will be added through the recent passage of the referendum, will bring the college and career readiness of Northern Valley students to new heights. The grant program, called "Building Capacity for Career Pathways," will be used to enhance a new health and biomedical program, slated to be introduced in the 2017-18 school year. He owned and operated Hammer Head Construction of Dumont and was a co-owner of Zatta Opticians of Bergenfield, with his father. He enjoyed coaching softball, soccer, basketball and baseball in Dumont. Bergen Freeholders Expand Contract With Pascack Valley Meals On Wheels HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders agreed to an enlarged contract with Pascack Valley Meals on Wheels on Tuesday, May 3. The program provides meals to Northern Bergen County residents with disabilities who are younger than 60. The Board agreed on a contract amount of $14,000, which is an increase of $3,000 over 2015, and a $6,000 increase over 2014. The increase reflects both an increased number of meals served, as well as an increase in food costs. In 2014, 1,721 meals were served, and in 2015, it was 2,363.
