Ho-Ho-Kus Firefighters Complete 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb In Baltimore HO-HO-KUS, N.J. -- The Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department participated in a National Fallen Firefighters Foundation 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at M&T Bank Stadium, in Baltimore, on Saturday, April 16. Participants honored the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11 by climbing stairs equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. The department also honored Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department firefighter and paramedic John Ulmschneider, who died in the line of duty that weekend. Take A Nature Photography Class At Demarest Nature Center DEMAREST, N.J. -- Cynthia Soroka-Dunn, trustee and current president of the Demarest Nature Center, will be leading a class in nature photography. The class will be open to all ages, and you'll need to bring a digital camera. The classroom-instruction portion will be in the Demarest Railroad Station, and participants will meet in the Wakelee Field Playground parking lot. The cost is $10 with advance registration -- you'll be able to register on the center's website -- or $12 on the day of the event. The date is not yet set: keep on eye on the center's website.

Paramus' Visitation Academy Names Outstanding Catholic School Graduate PARAMUS, N.J. -- Ethan Cabral has been named Visitation Academy's Outstanding Catholic School Graduate of 2016. "Ethan has been selected because he not only succeeds in academics but also understands and puts into practice the multiple Catholic values that Visitation Academy tries to instill, such as kindness towards others and helping out without thought of reward," the school noted. Saddle Brook High School Teacher Honored For Preservation Education SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- Amanda Klein, a history teacher at Saddle Brook High School, will be honored for her work educating students about historic preservation at the Bergen County Historic Preservation Awards, on Thursday, May 5.According to NorthJersey.com, she's taught students about being historians, "as they examine and catalog artifacts pertaining to Saddle Brook High School."
