New Milford Swim Club Gears Up For Summer
NEW MILFORD, N.J. -- The New Milford Swim Club, one of the largest summer swimming facilities in northern New Jersey, will opens its season on May 28 -- but it will first have an open house on Saturday, May 21.
Open house tours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Staff will be on hand to answer questions and take membership registrations. An additional open house will be on Saturday, June 18, from 1-3 p.m.
Additionally, the date for swim team registration is June 5, from 12-1:30 p.m., and for swim lessons, it's June 25, 28 and 30, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Palisades Virtuosi Come To Fair Lawn
FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Palisades Virtuosi -- a flute, clarinet and piano trio -- present "Like a Diamond in the Sky," the final concert of their 2015-2016 season, on Friday, June 10, at the Fair Lawn Community Center
The program of celestially inspired music will include the world premiere of Roger Stubblefield's Fire Diamond, Op. 18, for flute, clarinet and piano, commissioned by Palisades Virtuosi. This is part of the ensemble's "Mission to Commission" and celebrates 75 works created for them since 2003.

Stamford Gains $131K Grant For Swim Lessons, Water Safety Programs
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford and Bridgeport have been awarded a first-of-their-kind grants, aimed at enforcing swimming pool safety and preventing drownings. Five governments received over $780,000 from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Stamford received $131,000 and Bridgeport was awarded $75,000.

Hopper-Goetschius House Participating In History Day
UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- The Hopper-Goetschius House is one of the 10 museums and other historic sites participating in the Northwest Bergen History Coalition’s annual History Day, on Saturday, May 14.
The day's theme is "Spreading the News: Mail, Rail and the Press in Days Gone By" and there will be special exhibits related to this history, including antique telephones and telegraph equipment, railroad station apparatus, handwritten letters, old newspapers, and vintage postcards.
