Come Celebrate Hawthorne Fire Dept.'s 100 Years HAWTHORNE, N.J. -- The Hawthorne Fire Dept. is celebrating 100 years of volunteer service to the residents of Hawthorne and surrounding communities, on Saturday, June 18.The festivities will include beer, soda and food, as well as music and entertainment for kids -- including a fire truck slide and display of fire trucks. The department will also be selling commemorative shirts, coins, books, mugs and more. The event will be from noon until 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Bottagra Restaurant, 80 Wagaraw Rd., in Hawthorne.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m., in the Borough Park pavilion, and will feature a "Rain-gutter Regatta." The event is open to boys who'll be going into first through fourth grades at Crescent School. The Pack is also looking for parent volunteers for the new first-grade den. Stanford-Bound Srds Lacrosse Player Reaches Scoring Milestone SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- Saddle River Day School's Daniella McMahon is bound for Standford, and also recently became only the fourth player in the state to score 400 goals in her career, NJ Advance Media reported.McMahon reached this mark on the same day North Brunswick's Samantha Mehalick had, but the others had come in 2014 and 2013, according to NJ Advance Media. Her family was able to cheer her on that day, including her sister, Michaela, who's also on the team, as well as her parents, Karen and Paul, who both coach for the school.
