Saddle Brook Educational Foundation Holds 5K Run/Walk
SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- The Saddle Brook Educational Foundation 5K Run/Walk will be on Saturday, April 23.Medals will be awarded to the top three runners in each age category. The event also includes a DJ, snacks, "swag bags" and a kids fun run, for 5- to 12-year-olds.
The 5K entry fee is $25 until Sunday, April 17, and the fun run is $10 per child. It's a rain-or-shine event. Register online here. Race t-shirts are guaranteed to the first 200 paid registrants.

Marie (Moutenot) Franco, 78, Dumont Resident
DUMONT, N.J. -- Marie (Moutenot) Franco -- a Dumont resident, formerly of Edgewater -- died on Tuesday, April 5. She was 78.
Franco enjoyed many summers in Vermont with her cousin Penny and many friends. Before she retired, she was secretary to the principal at Dwight Morrow High School, in Englewood.
She is survived by her brother, James Moutenot and his wife Lucille; sister-in-law Arlene Moutenot; two nieces and four nephews; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; and her cat, Beau Chat.

Cooking Demonstration And Luncheon Comes To Haworth Seniors
HAWORTH, N.J. -- The latest Haworth Seniors luncheon is an Italian sauces cooking demonstration and lunch, on Tuesday, April 19.Chef Roy, a Culinary Institute of America graduate, will present a demonstration of nothern and southern Italian pasta sauces. The event -- which includes a pasta lunch -- is free for Haworth Seniors member and $15 otherwise.

Happy Birthday To Wayne's Gene Mayer
WAYNE, N.J. -- Happy birthday to Gene Mayer, former tennis great, who turns 60 this Monday, April 11.
Mayer was born in Flushing, Queens, but grew up in Wayne. At Wayne Valley High School, he was unbeaten during his two years on the team.
Mayer won 14 singles titles in his career, and he reached World No. 4 on the ATP Tour -- the Association of Tennis Professionals -- in 1980. His brother also played professionally, reaching No. 7 in 1982. The two sometimes played against each other, and with each other, winning five doubles tournaments together.
