Cliffside Park Sixth-Graders Learn To 'COPE'
CLIFFSIDE PARK, N.J. -- All Cliffside Park School District sixth-graders participate in the COPE -- Cliffside's Own Positive Education -- program, sponsored by the Cliffside Park Board of Education and the Cliffside Park Police Department. The 12-week anti-bullying program teaches students skills to prevent and handle conflict. The program is taught by Detective Jason Kangas of the CPPD Juvenile Division. Detective Sgt. Paterson Students Volunteer In Haiti Over Spring Break
PATERSON, N.J. -- Students from Paterson Charter School for Science & Technology’s Embrace Club and The World is Our Classroom Club spent spring break volunteering at an orphanage in Haiti and traveling throughout Europe, respectively. Students from PCSST's Embrace club traveled to Haiti, for the second year in a row. This year, the club's goal was to raise enough money to build a generator system at the orphanage. SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- The Saddle Brook Access for All Committee is seeking a volunteer who is certified in American Sign Language. This role isn't expected to take more than 1-2 hours a week. MONTVALE, N.J. -- The St. Joe's High School Montvale Chapter of UNICO National will be presenting "A Tribute to Elvis," starring Anthony Liguori Jr. on Friday, May 6. Upper Saddle River Fire Department Responds To Walnut Drive Fire
UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- The Upper Saddle River Fire Department was dispatched to a smell-of-smoke fire on Monday night, April 11, and found a small mulch fire. The USRFD was dispatched at at 6:50 p.m. to Walnut Drive. The small fire was in the rear of the residence. Engine 1232 extinguished it while Engine 1231 and Rescue 1242 crews checked the inside of the home. STAMFORD, Conn. — Shelter for the Homeless -- which operates Pacific House emergency men's shelter, and develops and manages deeply affordable supportive housing as an avenue out of homelessness -- received a $217,928 grant from Connecticut's Nonprofit Grant Program. BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport Rescue Mission is teaming up with local nonprofit Urban Impact of Black Rock to provide meals for low-income children.
