Israeli Paratrooper Shares 'Operation Thunderbolt' Experience In Closter
CLOSTER, N.J. -- Sassy Reuven, a veteran of the Israel Defense Forces elite "Red Beret" paratrooper unit, will discuss his experiences on Tuesday, May 17, at Closter's Temple Emanu-El.
Reuven participated in several cover operations, including a hostage-rescue mission code-named "Operation Thunderbolt," which rescued Jewish hostages being held by terrorists in Uganda.
"His story is Israel's story: of courage, endurance, defiance and a willingness to sacrifice it all for the right to live in your homeland in freedom," organizers noted.

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. -- Parkway Lanes, in Elwood Park, was facing a new future as a self-storage business, but the plans have shifted and it will now remain a bowling alley, The Record has reported.

International Culture Made Big Appearance Saddle River Day School
SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- The Saddle River Day School's World Language Department hosted its biennial International Dinner on Friday, April 1. Members of the school community prepared and shared food from around the world.
The nations represented at the dinner included Armenia, Austria, Bahrain, Cuba, Haiti, the Philippines and South Korea, among others. The event also featured music by the school's Jazz Ensemble, directed by Arts Department chair Erick Storckman, and salsa and cha-cha dance lessons.
