Fallen Hawthorne Soldiers To Be Honored With Street Dedication HAWTHORNE, N.J. -- Hawthorne’s Operation Fallen Hero program will honor two fallen soldiers, the Gazette reported. Portions of two streets will dedicated to them, in a Monday, May 2, ceremony. Mayor Richard Goldberg created the program in 2011, and it's assisted by Hawthorne resident Paul Chepurko's research, according to the Gazette. Goldberg plans to recognize each of the 76 fallen soldiers from the World Wars, Korean War and the Vietnam War. Stroke Screening Offered By Wayne Health Dept. WAYNE, N.J. -- The Wayne Health Department and Chilton Medical Center are offering a stroke screening on Tuesday, May 17. The screening will include blood-pressure screening, multi-type cholesterol screening, glucose screening, carotid artery assessment and health education counseling. The cost is $15. The session will be from 8:30-11 a.m. Appointments are required: call 973-694-1800, ext. 3241. Fasting isn't required, but it's recommended, for more accurate results. The health department is located at 475 Valley Rd.
