Frida Kahlo-Inspired Drawing Class Comes To Hackensack Library
HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Hackensack's Johnson Public Library is hosting a still-life drawing class inspired by Frida Kahlo on Wednesday, May 4.In this session, you'll earn about the artist Frida Kahlo and her artwork, then create your own still-life drawing, based on her style. You'll use lines, shapes and angles to help complete your drawing, and learn how to use watercolor pencils to color in the drawing.
Barbara Freiberg, who has a BA in studio art, will lead the class. For more information on Kahlo, check out this website.

Pet Portraits A Specialty For Wayne Woman
WAYNE, N.J. -- Four years ago, Wayne's Gina Stritch lost her corporate job, and she's now turning to something altogether different: pet portraits.
Stritch, at the age of 55, couldn't find another job. She said she met Ken Lang at Neighbors Helping Neighbors, and learned more from him in a few sessions than she had in her college career.
"He said the most important thing you can do is go out and meet someone for coffee," Stritch said. "Everyone knows someone, so get out there and talk to people.

Community Youth Choir Will Be Based In Ridgewood
RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Beginning this year, Bergen County will have a community youth chorus, for kids grades K-5. Auditions will begin in mid-May.
Ars Musica Chorale is forming the New Jersey State Children's Chorus. The NJSCC will have two ensembles: the Apprentice Choir, for kids K-2, and the Intermediate Choir, for kids in grades 3-5. Each will have approximately 40 singers.
A third ensemble, for middle-school students, is planned for the future.
