Dominick F. Leon, 88, Longtime Wood-Ridge Resident WOOD-RIDGE, N.J. -- Dominick F. Leon, a longtime Wood-Ridge resident, died on Saturday, April 30. He was 88. An Army Corporal in World War II, Leon worked for Truckers Teamsters Union Local 560 and was a self-employed contractor. He was an accomplished mason, carpenter and builder. He enjoyed stained glass work, his garden and his family. Leon was active in the American Legion and the VFW post, both in Wood-Ridge. Waldwick To Welcome Chicago Tribute Band WALDWICK, N.J. -- The Borough of Waldwick has announced that Beginnings -- a Chicago tribute band -- will play its summer concert, on May 26.The family-friendly act has been at it since 2002. The band performs at venues across the country, ranging from the famous, like the Epcot Center, to more intimate settings. The performance will be at 7 p.m. at the Oval. Cliffside Park Student Authors Featured On Classroom Show CLIFFSIDE PARK, N.J. -- Student authors at Cliffside Park School No. 3 were recently featured on the Emmy-winning TV show "Classroom Closeup" this weekend.You can watch the video clip here. Three students wrote "Daddy's Heart, My Heart, the Purple Heart," which "explores the impact of post-traumatic stress disorder and its impact on our veterans and families," according to the Amazon.com description.
