Bernice Laird Kraus, 97, Former Oakland Resident
OAKLAND, N.J. -- Bernice Laird Kraus -- a Mechanicsville, Maryland, resident, formerly of Oakland, New Jersey -- died on Tuesday, May 17. She was 97.
Kraus was a secretary for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, in Oakland, for 35 years.
She is survived by her children, George, Mary Ann, Peter, Karen Shattuck, Bonnie Hoeger; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George; parents Thomas and Isabelle Laird; and a brother and two sisters.

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Spencer Manser, a 38-year resident of Rutherford, died on Saturday, May 21. He was 66.
A Navy veteran, Manser was a rigger with Joseph M. Sanzari for over 30 years and was a member of Teamsters Local 560. He was a lifelong parishioner of St Joseph's Church, in East Rutherford.

Charles J. McShane, 67, Former Jersey City Resident
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Charles J. McShane -- a resident of Bonita Springs, Florida, formerly of Waretown and Jersey City -- died on Friday, May 20. He was 67.
Before retiring, McShane was a carpentry supervisor for the Jersey City Board of Education. He was a former member of the Father Carey Knights of Columbus Council, in Carteret, and a member of the Fourth Degree Assembly. He was also a former member of the Waretown Athletic Association, where he was a coach.

FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Longtime Fair Lawn resident Esther A. (McGowan) Mackrell died on Saturday, May 21. She was 86.
A resident of Fair Lawn since 1968, Mackrell was a parishioner of St. Anne's Church, in Fair Lawn. Before she retired, she was a Teletype operator with Solomon Brothers and Reuters.
