'Healthier You' Resource Fair Comes To Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Health Career Academy will host the 2016 Healthier You Resource Fair on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Cesar Batalla School, 606 Howard Ave.
The free event will feature a variety of resources, including health screenings, wellness programs, food and nutrition, fitness tips and health providers.
A number of children's activities will be available, as well.
Vendor tables are free-of-charge for companies or organizations offering healthcare, wellness or nutrition information.

Pearl River Man Steals License Plates, Police Say
ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Orangetown police have charged a 36-year-old resident of Pearl River with possession of stolen property, police said.
The arrest came about when officers responded to a complaint about numerous unregistered vehicles being stored on the lawn of a residence in Pearl River on Tuesday, Oct. 4, around 6:58 p.m, according to police.
During the investigation, the officers discovered that a vehicle belonging to the suspect, identified as Gerci Coronel-Heras, had stolen license plates, police said.

City Of Poughkeepsie Closes Budget Gap To $4 Million, Mayor Says
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison has announced that the city has reduced its potential $6 million budget gap for 2017 to about $4 million.
The deficit, which is still being worked on by the administration, remains fluid, Rolison said.
“Prior years’ budgets simply overstated anticipated revenues, causing accumulated deficits, which we must begin to address in the current budget cycle,” he said. “The use of one-time revenues, or revenue estimates that do not materialize at all, has been a primary driver of our fiscal troubles.”
