Car Crashes Into Utility Pole In Monroe
MONROE, Conn. -- Units from the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department responded to a single-car crash into a utility pole about 1 a.m. Sunday, authorities said. The accident occurred on Elm Street, near Lovers Lane, according to fire officials. The car sustained heavy damage to its front end, and the utility pole was split. Despite the damage, officials said, no one was seriously injured in the crash.

Fishkill Rural Cemetery Commemorates 150 Years Of Service
FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Fishkill Rural Cemetery dedicated a new historic marker and conducted ceremonies to mark its 150th anniversary Saturday. Wreaths were placed on the graves of the primary founder, James Van Steenbergh, and Dr. Lewis H. White, the board of trustees’ first president. CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- First-grade students from Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School recently visited Croton Point Park to make scientific observations about the Hudson River as part of their Acting Like Scientists science study. Working with educators from the Teatown Lake Reservation, students had the opportunity to take the water and air temperature, examine what was in the river and note the tides. LEWISBORO, N.Y. -- The Lewisboro Land Trust is asking for the public’s help in an effort to clean up a public trail at St. Paul's Church in Vista on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 3 p.m. Those who wish to help will assist the Land Trust in hiking and clearing the seldom-used wooded preserve. LAGRANGE, N.Y. -- New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks have arrested a 39-year-old resident of LaGrange on a weapons charge, state police said. YONKERS, N.Y. -- A black Chrysler was carjacked at gunpoint at a Citgo station on Ashburton Avenue in Yonkers about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a News 12 report. Easton Police Warn Of Heavy Traffic On Road To Silverman's Farm
EASTON, Conn. -- Easton police officers are requesting the public’s cooperation in efforts to direct the flow of traffic along a busy stretch of Sport Hill Road. Police are reminding residents that traffic is expected to be heavy over the next few weekends along the roadway in the area of Silverman's Farm, a popular fall destination. Easton officers ask motorists to be patient as police and parking lot attendants work to get hundreds of vehicles a day through the area while protecting pedestrians heading for pumpkins and other fall treats.
