Car Crashes Into Utility Pole In Monroe MONROE, Conn. -- Units from the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department responded to a single-car crash into a utility pole about 1 a.m. Sunday, authorities said. The accident occurred on Elm Street, near Lovers Lane, according to fire officials. The car sustained heavy damage to its front end, and the utility pole was split. Despite the damage, officials said, no one was seriously injured in the crash.

Fishkill Rural Cemetery Commemorates 150 Years Of Service FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Fishkill Rural Cemetery dedicated a new historic marker and conducted ceremonies to mark its 150th anniversary Saturday. Wreaths were placed on the graves of the primary founder, James Van Steenbergh, and Dr. Lewis H. White, the board of trustees’ first president. Croton-Harmon Kids Transform Into Scientists CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- First-grade students from Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School recently visited Croton Point Park to make scientific observations about the Hudson River as part of their Acting Like Scientists science study. Working with educators from the Teatown Lake Reservation, students had the opportunity to take the water and air temperature, examine what was in the river and note the tides. Parolee With Loaded Revolver Apprehended In LaGrange LAGRANGE, N.Y. -- New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks have arrested a 39-year-old resident of LaGrange on a weapons charge, state police said.
