Robinson graduated from Boston's Berklee College of Music and went on to become its youngest faculty member ever. While Robinson is best known for his saxophone play, he plays a variety other instruments as well -- including the sarrusophone and ophicleide. Joseph Skiba, 66, Longtime Garfield Resident GARFIELD, N.J. -- Joseph Skiba, a longtime Garfield resident, died on Sunday, April 24. He was 66. Born in Passaic, Skiba lived there before moving to Garfield nearly 40 years ago. He was a mail clerk for the United States Postal Service in Paterson for 41 years, before he retired in 2006. He is survived by his sisters, Maryann Suita and her husband Joseph of Garfield, and Mary Josita Skiba of Lodi; nieces Patricia and her husband Scott, and Jo Ann and her husband Albert; great-nieces Allyson and Mariella; and great-nephew Nathan. Ridgewood Planning Board Approves Continued Plans For Multifamily Housing RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Ridgewood's planning board gave the ok at Tuesday, April 19, meeting, for plans to continue for a multi-family housing project along Route 17, the Ridgewood News reported.There are two draft layout for the project -- one proposes 32 townhouses and the other proposes 38 apartments, according to the Ridgewood News. Both the boys and girls team earned the No. 1 seed in their respective county tournaments, according to The Record. The Ridgewood boys team is 9-0, The Record reported. The first round in the tourney will be played by Thursday, and the next round will begin Saturday. The semifinals will be held next Thursday, at Ridgewood, and the final will be May 7 in Mahwah. Ridgewood Middle Schoolers Compete In Chemistry Challenge RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Three sixth-graders from Ridgewood's Benjamin Franklin Middle School competed on the state level for the "You be the Chemist Challenge."Out of all the middle school students who participated from the state of New Jersey, Leo Manwaring made it to the top 16 and Michael Yin made it to the top eight. Hari Rajesh made it to the final round of four students and placed third runner-up. "The boys were happy to participate and were delighted to have done so well," a news release noted. Their science teachers are Trella Dolgin and Lauren Salvani.
