Old Tappan Farmstand Giving Away Donuts Friday OLD TAPPAN, N.J. -- Friday, June 3, is National Donut Day, and Stokes Farm's Old Tappan farmstand is celebrating in the best possible way -- with free donuts. From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the farmstand is handing out one donut a person, and no purchase is necessarily, though there are many items on offer, including fresh produce, herbs, plants and assorted gifts. National Donut Day is celebrated on the first Friday in June. It began in 1938, as a Salvation Army fundraiser. Stainless Steel Sculptures Installed In Leonia LEONIA, N.J. -- Leonia's Station Parkway gained some large additions on Sunday, with the loan of five stainless-steel sculptures. The pieces are works by German-born sculptor Ewerdt Hilgemann, part of the exhibit "Moments in a Stream," which was on display on Manhattan's Park Avenue in the fall of 2014. "We are very excited and honored that Leonia was selected as a site to display them, on loan, for a while," said Sculpture for Leonia President Barbara Mitrani.
