Man Gets Life Sentence For Robbing, Murdering Ossining Resident
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A resident of Manville, N.J., was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for robbing and murdering a resident of Ossining, and conspiring to distribute marijuana and heroin, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
The defendant, Anthony Grecco, 35, was convicted of the crimes in January, following a nine-day trial in White Plains federal court before the Honorable Kenneth M. Karas, who imposed Wednesday’s sentence.

Lake Carmel Man, 31, Accused Of Possessing Pot With Pipe, Needle
CARMEL, N.Y. -- A Putnam County sheriff’s deputy has arrested a 31-year-old Lake Carmel man on drug-related charges, authorities said.
The arrest came about when Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Irwin stopped a motorist who had committed traffic violations on the Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley on Aug. 2 about 6:50 p.m., police report.
As the deputy approached the vehicle, he detected the odor of marijuana emanating from its interior, according to officials.

Supporters: Connecticut Could Add 115,000 Jobs Under Clinton Presidency
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Connecticut could add more than 115,000 jobs under a Hillary Clinton presidency, while losing 38,000 jobs under a Donald Trump presidency, according to an analysis recently released by supporters of the Democratic presidential nominee.
The findings of the study are based on two recent reports by Moody’s economist Mark Zandi, a former adviser to U.S. Sen. John McCain, according to Hillary for Connecticut, the local campaign group.

Haverstraw Man Refuses To Pay Cabbie For Ride To Nyack
ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Orangetown police have arrested a 20-year-old Haverstraw man who allegedly refused to pay for a taxi ride.
The suspect, identified as Neverson Cadesca, took a cab from Nanuet into the Village of Nyack, according to officials.
When he arrived at his location, however, he refused to pay the fare, police report.
Cadesca was arrested and taken to Orangetown Police Headquarters for processing on Monday, Aug. 1, about 5:16 p.m., according to officials.
He has been charged with theft of services, a misdemeanor, police report.
