One Hospitalized In Sparta House Fire: Police One person was hospitalized following a house fire in Sparta on the evening of Monday, Oct. 14, authorities said. Firefighters responded to 190 West Shore Trail and worked to extinguish the blaze, Sparta police said in a release. One of the residents had to be transported to a nearby hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation, police said. The Sparta Police Detective Bureau will be investigating the origin of the fire, police said.

Man Fatally Stabbed in East Orange: Prosecutor A 51-year-old man was fatally stabbed in East Orange on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 13, authorities said. At 11:29 a.m., East Orange police responded to an apartment on the 500 block of Main Street and found William Gilliam with apparent stab wounds, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and East Orange Police Chief Phyllis Bindi said. Gilliam was pronounced dead soon after, authorities said. This incident is being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, which includes detectives from the East Orange Police Department, authorities said.

Antique Car Damaged In Frankford Township Crash: Firefighters An antique car suffered some scrapes in a car crash on Sunday, Oct. 13 in Sussex County. At 4:41 p.m., the Frankford Township Fire Department was dispatched to Route 206 and Broad Street for a car crash with injuries, firefighters said. Three people were evaluated for injuries and first responders dealt with a fuel spill from one of the vehicles, firefighters said. The injured people declined additional medical attention, firefighters said. “We were sad to see such a beautiful antique get damaged, but glad everyone was okay,” the Frankford Township Fire Department said.

Man Critical After Struck In Hit, Run Crash In Bayonne: Prosecutor A 25-year-old Bayonne man is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene on the early morning of Sunday, Oct. 13, authorities said. At 12:20 a.m., Bayonne police responded to Route 440 and 22nd Street and found the man with life-threatening injuries, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene, Suarez said. The man was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition, Suarez said. Vehicle Overturns In Woods Off Route 80: Njsp A driver was hospitalized after his vehicle overturned on Route 80 in Morris County on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 10, authorities said. The driver of a Nissan Rogue lost control of his vehicle while driving on Route 80 East in Mount Olive Township, Charles Marchan, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The car veered off the right side of the roadway and overturned into the woods, Marchan said. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Marchan said. The crash remains under investigation, Marchan said.

Careless Bus Driver Strikes 13-Year-Old Girl, Father: Police A 13-year-old girl and her father were hospitalized after being struck by a bus in Rahway on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 10, authorities said. At 8:23 p.m., the two were crossing the intersection when they were struck by the NJ Transit bus, which was turning from Elizabeth Avenue onto West Scott Avenue, Rahway police said. Man Killed In Route 31 Crash After Car Overturns In Ditch: Police A 56-year-old Columbia resident was killed in a car crash on Route 31 in Warren County on the morning of Monday, Oct. 14, authorities said. At 5:43 a.m., officers responded to the car crash where they found a Chevy Avalanche had overturned, Washington Township police said. A preliminary investigation revealed the Chevy was traveling southbound on Route 31 north when it left the roadway, striking the guardrail and bridge abutment before rolling over into a ditch, police said. Father, Three Sons Killed Daughter: Union County Prosecutor A father and his three sons were indicted by a grand jury on Wednesday, Oct. 9 with manslaughter in the death of his daughter, a 28-year-old Union Township woman last May, authorities said.
