DANBURY, Conn. -- In an attempt to ensure a safe Fourth of July holiday, state troopers will be concentrating their enforcement efforts on intoxicated motorists, along with aggressive and distracted driving, throughout the weekend. Greenwich Social Services Reminds Community of State Rent Rebate Program
GREENWICH, Conn. -- Officials at Greenwich Social Services are reminding area residents that the application filing period for the state’s rent rebate program runs until Oct.1. State law provides the program for renters who are elderly or disabled, and whose annual incomes do not exceed certain limits. Woman Arrested With Brass Knuckles In Orangetown
ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- New York State Police in Haverstraw have arrested a 34-year-old resident of Albany on a weapons possession charge. The arrest came about during a traffic stop on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Orangetown, police report. During the stop, the suspect, identified as Kira Young, was found to possess a set of brass knuckles, according to officials. Young was in possession of the weapon while having been previously convicted of a crime, police report. Saddle Brook Changing July Meeting Dates
SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- The Saddle Brook Township Council has announced a pair of changes in its schedule. The work session originally slated for July 5 has been changed to Tuesday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m. In addition, the Township Council public meeting originally scheduled for July 7 has been moved to Thursday, July 14, at 7 p.m. Both the work session and public meeting will be held at the Municipal Building, 93 Market St.

Shelton Announces Fourth Of July Garbage Pickup Schedule, Closures
SHELTON, Conn. -- The City of Shelton has announced that there will be no trash and recycling collection on Monday, the Fourth of July. Residents are advised to put out their trash and recycling one day later than their normal scheduled day. Friday’s collection will be picked up on Saturday. NORWALK, Conn. -- On the eve of the 10-year anniversary of a brutal murder committed at a public housing facility, Norwalk police are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. The victim, Laray Moore, was shot and killed on June 29, 2006 in the Roodner Court Public Housing Complex at 261 Ely Ave. Wednesday marks the anniversary of the crime, which remains unsolved. Con Edison Begins Gas Main Replacements On Crane Road In Scarsdale
SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Con Edison began replacing approximately 1,800 linear feet of aging gas mains on Crane Road Monday. The work has resulted in road closings on Crane Road between Post Road/Route 22 and Stonehouse Road. The construction is expected to be completed within eight to 10 weeks, weather permitting. Police officers will be on site for traffic control, but vehicles and pedestrians can expect traffic delays.
