Thief Snags $91K In Silver Bars From Long Island UPS Facility, Police Say Police are asking for help in identifying a man suspected of stealing silver bars from a shipping business on Long Island. Suffolk County Police said the man walked into a UPS facility in East Farmingdale, located on Smith Street, shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, and showed the employee a fake ID. He then stole a package containing approximately $91,000 worth of silver bars, police said. The man was last seen fleeing in a dark-colored SUV, which was captured on surveillance footage. 'Prepare For Bloodshed': 17-Year-Old Threatened Mass Shooting At Long Island School, DA Says A 17-year-old is facing charges after allegedly threatening to carry out a mass shooting at a Long Island high school. Suffolk County prosecutors said Sequoya High School in Holtsville was placed on lockdown on Wednesday, Dec. 13, after an anonymous email was sent to school administrators. 'Left Her To Die': Capital Region Man Sentenced For Setting Woman On Fire, Burning Second A man from the region may spend the rest of his life behind bars for trying to kill a woman by setting her on fire and seriously burning a second victim. Houston Ketter, age 41, of Albany, was sentenced to 50 years in prison in Albany County Court on Tuesday, Dec. 19, after a jury found him guilty of attempted murder. The 43-year-old Shirley man, who prosecutors are not naming to protect the victim’s identity, was sentenced to 23 years in prison in Suffolk County Court on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Driver Nabbed In Hit-Run Of Boy Near Capital Region Daycare, Police Say Police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run crash in the region that sent a boy to the hospital. The wreck happened shortly after 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, in Schenectady, near the intersection of Route 7 and Albany Street. Capital Region Police Detective Who Died At Age 37 Remembered For 'Unwavering Commitment' Colleagues and loved ones are mourning the sudden loss of a police officer from the region being remembered for his commitment to the community. Albany Police Detective Conor O’Shea died Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the age of 37, according to his obituary. A cause of death was not given.
